In March 2025, H&R Block, a Canadian financial and tax advisory firm, published a report on the scale of platform work in Canada.
The report found that nearly one in four people living in Canada (23%) worked for platforms. This represents an 85% increase compared to the survey conducted three years earlier. For 90% of people, this is a sideline, accounting for an average of 24% of their total income. The report also shows that approximately 30% of platform workers did not plan to report all of their income on their tax returns.
