On December 20, 2023, the International Labor Organization published a working document on the EU Platform Work Directive.<\/p>\n
Now we know that the directive will not be implemented, but the document prepared by the ILO critically and deeply analyzes it. The ILO shows that even if the directive were implemented, it would not meet the challenges posed by the Platforms to social and labor rights in the European Union.<\/p>\n
The document explicitly calls work for Platforms “under extreme conditions”, constituting “a test of the resilience of existing labor standards”.<\/p>\n
According to the authors, even after the adoption of this directive, employment relations will not be comprehensively regulated, leaving unregulated answers to various legal issues, such as the concept of working time, privacy at work and informing and consulting employees and their representatives.<\/p>\n
