Two weeks ago, the Pyszne.pl platform announced a lockout. All individuals employed as Delivery Partners will be laid off (see here<\/a> and here<\/a>). The Confederation of Labour Trade Union, which operates there, sent an open letter to the President.<\/p>\n

Open letter to the President of the Republic of Poland regarding the mass layoffs of Pyszne.pl couriers<\/strong><\/p>\n

On July 14, 2026, Takeaway Express Poland sp. z o.o. (operating under the Pyszne.pl brand) announced that it intends to lay off all currently employed couriers (4,491 people) by the end of August of this year. Those laid off will be offered re-employment with one of five selected fleet partners. This represents a dramatic deterioration in working conditions. Pyszne.pl’s current operating model involved directly (or through a temporary employment agency) hiring couriers under a contract of mandate with an hourly rate. The transition to employment through fleet partners means:<\/p>\n

1. No minimum hourly rate – couriers will be paid only for completed deliveries. In practice, this may mean they earn less than the minimum wage or nothing at all (if there are no orders).<\/p>\n

2. The need to pay fees to the fleet partner for so-called “off-peak” deliveries. Settlement, or de facto issuing a contract \u2013 an incomprehensible and absurd mechanism in which the employee pays the employer.
\n3. Poorer protection of employee rights \u2013 numerous examples from both the Polish delivery market and other European countries indicate that the employment model through fleet partners may be associated with an increased risk of abuse.<\/p>\n

As representatives of trade unions, we observe with concern that optimization processes and the digital transformation of the labor market are increasingly occurring at the expense of employment stability and fundamental employee rights. The sudden elimination of jobs in the platform sector and in the area of \u200b\u200btemporary work demonstrate the structural weakness of the protections available to Polish workers in the face of global market trends.<\/p>\n

The Office of the President of the Republic of Poland has traditionally been the foundation of social dialogue and the guardian of constitutional rights, including the right to decent work and social dialogue (Article 20 of the Constitution of the Republic of Poland). We deeply believe that dynamic changes in the labor market cannot occur with tacit acceptance of deteriorating employment standards. Effective job protection today requires the development of new, systemic protective and regulatory mechanisms.<\/p>\n

We appeal to the President for support for Polish platform workers, in particular to take action aimed at effectively enforcing the provisions of the Minimum Wage Act across the entire food delivery industry.<\/p>\n

We believe that a joint reflection on the future of the Polish labor market will allow for the development of solutions that serve both the economy and, above all, working people.<\/p>\n
