At the end of March 2026, what is believed to be the first large-scale study on the impact of working conditions on the health of people working as delivery workers for platforms was published.
\nThe study was conducted in France by an interdisciplinary research team from the Development Research Institute (Institut De Recherche Pour Le D\u00e9veloppement) and the National Institute for Demographic Studies (Institut National D\u2019\u00e9tudes D\u00e9mographiques), in partnership with other organizations involved in platform work. Over a thousand delivery workers from Paris and Bordeaux participated.<\/p>\n
The study results are alarming: nearly half of the respondents believe their overall health has deteriorated since starting their delivery work. 45% of the platform workers surveyed experience psychological stress (characterized by moderate to severe anxiety and depressive disorders). Delivery work results in a high incidence of musculoskeletal, genitourinary, and psychosomatic disorders. 36% of employees suffer from intense and regular low back pain, 32% report recurring urinary problems, and 85% complain of chronic fatigue.<\/p>\n
