Those working for the Platforms have been waiting for its implementation for years. Many hope it will improve their dire situation: increase wages and ensure access to employment rights.<\/p>\n
At the same time, the Platforms themselves are preparing for an offensive to maintain the status quo: the exploitation of workers by both the Platforms and their Fleet Partners. Of course, they are dressing this up with arguments about “flexibility,” “overregulation,” and “limiting budget revenues.”<\/p>\n
And in fact, the Office of the President of the Republic of Poland has joined this group. Ms. Wanda Buk, Social Advisor to the President, said during a recent conference on the implementation of the Directive:
\n“Poland has a tendency to goldplate, i.e., add excessive, optional regulations when implementing EU law into national law.” It could be particularly dangerous for our labor market.<\/p>\n
